The Apple iPhone 15 lineup is still one of the best flagship smartphone lineups that money can buy right now. A common challenge for smartphone buyers is whether to opt for the latest or a generation-old offering. With the iPhone, it is never a bad decision to go for a generation older device and the iPhone 15 lineup, which debuted in 2023, still offers the best that Apple has to offer.

Like every year, Apple’s iPhone 15 lineup also includes four models – the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max. While the iPhone 15 is the best for most consumers, these four devices also offer enough differences to make it easier to choose between them. Here is a look at iPhone 15 price points and models and how to choose the right one for you.

iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus: Price points and models

The best way to classify Apple’s iPhone offering is the Pro offering and the non-Pro offering. The non-Pro offerings from last year – the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus – have suddenly become one of the easiest entry points to the iPhone ecosystem. The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus feature an aluminium body with colour-infused glass back and mainly differ in terms of screen size and battery. The iPhone 15 has a 6.1-inch display and is rated for up to 20 hours of video playback while the 15 Plus gets a larger 6.7-inch display and is rated to last for up to 26 hours of video playback.

They both feature Dynamic Island, which was first introduced with the iPhone 14 Pro models. Powered by an A16 Bionic chip, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus feature a dual rear camera system with a 48MP main camera and a 12MP ultra-wide camera and supports 2x optical zoom. There is a 12MP TrueDepth front camera, a USB Type-C port for charging and support for dual-SIM connectivity as well as wireless charging.

The iPhone 15 is available in 128GB, 256GB and 512GB storage options and is available for Rs 69,900, Rs 79,900, and Rs 99,900 respectively. The iPhone 15 Plus also comes in the same storage options with the 128GB variant now available for Rs 79,900, 256GB variant for Rs 89,900, and 512GB model for Rs 1,09,900. These are the official pricing for iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models but you can find them for less during festive sales and Apple authorised resellers.

iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max: Price points and models

The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are the only non-iPhone 16 models to support Apple Intelligence. They both feature titanium casing with matt glass back and sport 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays with ProMotion technology and always-on display support. Powering the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max is an A17 Pro chip and sports an action button in the place of a ring/silent switch.

They feature a triple rear camera system with a 48MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, and a 12MP telephoto camera. On the iPhone 15 Pro, the optical zoom is limited to 3x while the iPhone 15 Pro Max supports up to 5x optical zoom. They both feature a 12MP selfie camera with Face ID and support dual-SIM connectivity. The iPhone 15 Pro is rated for up to 23 hours while the iPhone 15 Pro Max is rated for up to 29 hours and they both support fast charging via USB Type-C port with USB 3.0 support.

The iPhone 15 Pro comes in four storage variants: 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB while the iPhone 15 Pro Max comes in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage options. While Apple has officially discontinued the iPhone 15 Pro lineup, you can find them at other retailers. Croma is offering the iPhone 15 Pro with 512GB storage for Rs 1,39,900 while the 256GB iPhone 15 Pro Max is available for Rs 1,34,900.

iPhone 15 price points and models: Which one should you choose

Apple’s baseline iPhone 15 with a 6.1-inch screen, dual rear camera, dynamic island and respectable battery life is the best iPhone for most people. It is an excellent choice for first-time iPhone buyers and a great upgrade if you are switching from iPhone 13, iPhone 12, or older. However, if you are looking for stellar battery life then the iPhone 15 Plus might be a better option.

What about Pro? Well, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are meant for those who want the best Apple has to offer. If you want a longer zoom range, a display with a high refresh rate, a titanium build, and the Pro moniker then it is the way to go but for most people, the basic iPhone lineup will suffice.
